Description

Hump Day, middle of the week, first day of Fall is tomorrow, Thursday.  I heard the distinct sound of pitter-patter outside my window this morning.  This should help clear the remaining Summer dust off of things, improve the Forest danger level and make those who go to the weekly Farmer's Market turn-in their straw hats for something a little more waterproof.  Speaking about the weather, let's see how the dart game went this morning... Light rain to start the day off along the South Oregon Coast, then remaining cloudy with highs in the mid 60s and winds out of the Southwest at 5-10 mph.  Partly cloudy skies tonight with lows in the mid 50s and winds from the South to Southwest at 5-10 mph.  Sunshine with clouds mixed on Thursday, highs in the upper 60s.  Well now seems someone is trying to rain on our parade, hold it, that was last Saturday.  While you dig out your goulashes under all those flip-flops, sandals and the like, let's check the news....
  • Hey, a COVID-19 report.  OHA has cutback to weekly reports and will release the State info today, but CHW got a report out this week.  Numbers are still there, but luckily no new deaths.
  • The Farmer's Market runs through October in case you were wondering.  Umbrellas are acceptable.
  • WBC day at the Mill Casino, Hotel, RV Park.  Coos Co. Commissioner candidates.
  • SWOCC has a Community Resource Fair today.
  • According to a report from the Oregon Employment Dept., both Coos & Curry counties have experienced job increases.  Now if we can just find employees.
  • Quake at the Southern End.
  • Another illegal marijuana operation near Junction City.
  • Officer involved shooting at Grants Pass.
  • Fatal on Hwy. 140E, Klamath Co.
  • Fatal on Hwy. 140, Jackson Co.
  • Fatal on Hwy. 38, North Douglas Co., just outside Drain headed towards I-5.
  • Fatal on Hwy. 221, Yamhill Co.
  • Local Police Logs show warrant arrests, burglary, DWS, harassment, UEMV, & more.
  • In sports, Marshfield volleyball made short work of their league match a Cottage Grove last night.
  • Prep soccer not good for North Bend in Eugene yesterday.
  • Girl's prep soccer polls are out, MHS is No. 10.
  • SWOCC men to host Rogue CC in soccer today.
  • Big volleyball match at Gill Coliseum tonight, it's the Ducks visiting the Beavers, 7p.
Went to broadcast the Marshfield volleyball match back to the Bay Area last night.  It was 64 degrees in Reedsport.  Kind of figured it would go up as we approached the south end of the Willamette Valley, but nooooo.  It was 64 all the way.  Feels like Mother Nature might just be getting an early start on Fall.  I don't know, maybe it's time to clean the dust off everything, open the windows and let some Coastal Marine air in, and just maybe dig out some of those coats out of the closet in case you need to replace a jacket.  Then again, the forecast shows things improving towards the weekend again.  Okay, a little maintenance now for a sit in the Fall sun later.  Keep your protection from COVID-19 in mind, it is still here.
