Rose Festival Volunteer Recruitment is Open

PORTLAND, OR. - The Rose Festival is looking for a few fun people, ages 13 and up, to join the zany and wacky Rose Festival Clowns, now in its 15th year. Lead by Clown Boss Angel Ocasio, the Rose Festival Clowns are the Festival’s elite amateur entertainment core of volunteers specializing in keeping the Focus on Fun.

Each year the Festival opens its clown school to non-professionals to train and play in the Festival’s parades and CityFair events. No prior experience is required. The Festival is looking for fresh faces and open hearts willing to take their place behind the big red nose.

Application deadline is February 28, 2023.

Auditions are on March 14, 2023, by appointment only to tell a joke, do a magic trick, play a musical instrument, juggle or spin a yo-yo. Think outside of the box or play in the box.

Clown workshop on April 1 & 2, 2023. Accepted applicants must participate in a 2-day Clown Workshop. They will receive a makeup kit, a clown nose, costume, and learn various circus and theater skills. For any questions email Angel Ocasio at [email protected]

After the workshop, the clowns will participate in Rose Festival parades: the CareOregon Starlight Parade, the Fred Meyer Junior Parade and the Grand Floral Parade. As well as activities at CityFair including the opening day ribbon cutting ceremony
